This tree sits just beyond a small waterfall. It’s tucked away in its own little cove, so it’s somewhat hidden by brush. The exposed root base is interesting, but the carvings are what really make it special.

Ride to Percival’s Island
My husband and I have recently started trail riding, so we’ve been trying to bike every morning or so. This morning we finally managed to ride over to Percival’s Island. From where we parked, the total round trip was about 12.5 or 13 miles. Since the temperature this morning was a little cool at around 70F the conditions were perfect. Here are a few pictures from the trail:

The Potomac at Point of Rocks – C & O Canal Trail Ride
This morning our daughter took us for a bike ride along the C&O Canal trail that winds around the Potomac. The weather was beautiful and perfect for a ride. Since it was still fairly early in the temperature was in the low 70sF. The trail is flat and nicely maintained as it winds around the river. This morning we rode for a total of 13.4 miles & it felt great. I would certainly love to come back for another ride. If you visit, be sure to check out the pre-civil war aged houses along the path that are available to rent for camping. One of them is pictured below. For further information, please click here
